I'm not sure where this fits under "things I know", but I feel like this story / comment fits the list.

About 3 years ago I asked Miles (author of this post) to join me for a "fireside chat" at a conference, where I would ask him questions about the company he co-founded.

Miles agrees to do it and a couple months later on the day of the session, Miles gets hit with traffic on the way down, making it a 2 hour drive. But he's still on time anyway.

And when Miles gets there for our 4pm session, there's maybe 18 people in the audience at most. And the session is running late.

And I find out it's Miles 40th birthday!

I was a bit mortified since I'm the one who pitched him the session, and the room is basically empty. I figured surely Miles would be angry about dragging himself all the way down and let me know it a bit.

Instead, Miles gives me a completely genuine and reassuring "don't even worry about it, it's really all good... we'll have fun up there." We end up having a nice chat on stage. And on the way out, he says thank you and something to the effect of "let me know if you ever need anything."

Anyway, if I were to add something to this list of 50 it'd be something like "Kindness when frustration would be completely justified is a great measure of someone's character." Something like that.

We are all juggling. Some balls are rubber and some are glass. Life will get busy and we must choose which will fall to the floor. Wisdom is knowing which ones will bounce back, and which ones will shatter - and not drop those.
