I think this is the best writing I have read in a long time. It is thought provoking and real. Of course, I couldn’t finish reading it without my phone asking me about my fitness or Amazon letting me know it has amazing deals this weekend 🧐. I’m doing a lot of soul searching lately and your idea of authenticity being “hijacked” by the world we live in today….
Might not be an either/or. Authenticity in the form of cringemaxxing *and* authorship might go hand in hand. That might be the formula that AI can't beat.
What AI can’t replicate isn’t the willingness to be embarrassing, but the weight of a life behind the embarrassment. The cringe only lands when there’s real stakes underneath it… which is just authorship in a lower register.
